My garden has an very high level of phosphorous in the soil and has not been producing for years. What to do?

I think I've killed my garden over the years, burning leaves and downed limbs there every fall and tilling the ash in the spring. I've only tried to maintain the ph at normal. My nitrogen and potash levels are almost not even registering they are so low. But I have added 3/4 ton of composted cow manure this year to balance them. Just the phosphorous remains.

What type of fire accelerate would not affect a garden's soil?

A tree fell down in our garden this past winter, now we are stuck with a brush pile in the middle of our garden. The wood is still green and cannot be burnt without any type of accelerate. Is there any fire accelerate that would not affect the soil of a garden?

I need help with gardening in South Texas?

More specifically, the Rio Grande Valley. I grew up gardening in the north (WA, ID), and it's very different here. I get that cold crops like broccoli and cabbage should go out in the fall and grow during the winter (since it almost never even frosts here), but what about growing things in the summer? I planted some tomatoes a few weeks ago and they are thriving--so far.

Basically, any ideas would be appreciated, also books on how to garden in this area. Please don't answer if you don't know.
I'm specifically wanting to know about growing food, not flowers.
I actually want to know a lot of things.

What are the best times to start planting things? The seed packages say September, but they all say that. I know you can garden year round here, but is there a better time to plant something than another time? Like I know I shouldn't plant cabbage in the spring, because it likes cold weather.

In general, how is gardening different here than from the north? Any books that you can recommend?

will sawdust work in a garden?

i only have one spot in my yard that gets enough sun for a garden- and the soil sucks. lots of gravel and the dirt is poor at best. i know i could dig it out and bring in a truckload of topsoil, but i'm curious about this other idea i had. i am a cabinet maker and have access to more sawdust than any garden could possibly need. i know fallen leaves tilled into the soil are good for gardens. whats the difference. right? not a quick fix, but if i do it regularly will things improve? any species i need to avoid?
